…and to me, if you ask me personally, if X-Men is a metaphor for racism, I tell you always “no.” Is the X-Men a metaphor for homophobia and I insist “no.”
If X-Men is analogous to ANYthing in reality, it is a metaphor for the entitlement to private gun ownership.

Except gun right’s ownership is a choice. It isn’t part of you. Though I agree that as soon as mutants have powers that make them more than just people who look different the metaphor fumbles.
I think if you have mutants that have anything beyond looking different the metaphor for persecution because they are different fumbles.
But gun ownership is a choice and I think it messes up there as well because there are mutants who wished to never have their powers. Not all powers are violent or have the capability for violence. And it isn’t something that anyone can get.
A lot of people are getting on my case about this and all of the arguments are operating with the pretense that fantasy is comparable to reality.
